One Thing: Beauty
An unexpected kind of recovery.
Hi friends,
I went to a concert in Boston this week, and it was a late night. My body and brain needed a lot more rest and recovery the next day than normal. And at the same time, my heart felt really full. Something about the beauty of the night was restorative in a different way.
Nature, art, music, dance, poetry, literature…these forms of beauty can be both grounding and lifting to our spirits. Expressions of beauty can help us process emotions, sometimes even when we didn’t know we were feeling them. I felt that at the concert, when I was smiling, dancing, and crying all at once.
Beauty Scavenger Hunt
We can’t always go to a concert or pop into an art museum. Instead, let’s do a small scavenger hunt this week and see what kinds of beauty you can make room for in everyday life.
Find one of each sometime this week:
Something beautiful from nature (flower, tree, patch of light)
A beautiful object (a mug, architecture, sculpture)
Beautiful words (song, poem, passage from a book)
Beauty in movement (yours or someone else’s)
A color that delights you (art, nature, design, fabric)
As you go, notice what kind of beauty feels most restorative to you right now.
Take good care,
Lisa

Love your observation of the fulfillment you got from music and dancing and feeling!
Love this one Lisa! And I also went to see live music this week and was moved more than I expected by the beauty of it!
