One Thing: Self-Trust
Kindness as the groundwork for self-trust
Hi friends,
Writing about self-kindness (see here, here, and here) has helped me connect the dots to something very personal: self-trust. What I’m learning through lived experience is that self-kindness is the soil in which self-trust takes root.
At the beginning of the year, I wrote an aspirational purpose statement:
I trust myself and my internal wisdom to authentically live my calling.
While I sensed that my growth edge was around self-trust, much of my personal work has centered on being kind to myself and developing self-compassion. These are the conditions that make space to truly listen and know. I have to believe in, respect, and love myself first in order to trust that my desires, needs, and actions are true and authentic.
Self-Trust
Let’s take some small steps towards self-trust together this week, starting with awareness. Ask yourself:
What would I try, even if it didn’t make logical sense, if I truly trusted myself?
How do I know when doubt is creeping in? What thought patterns, emotions, or physical sensations tell me I’m second-guessing myself?
If you’re ready to take action, choose a small moment this week to trust your instincts, using your emotions and body’s signals as your guide.
Take good care,
Lisa
