One Thing: Cue
You named the alter ego. Now choose the cue.
Hi friends,
When I first joined Orangetheory almost ten years ago, I loved the benchmark workouts. They felt like game day.
And on benchmark days, I always wore the same black tank.
There was nothing magical about it. It wasn’t superstition. But when I put it on, something shifted.
That tank became a signal that it’s time to show up.
I wasn’t consciously working with an alter ego then, but I can see it now. The tank helped me access a version of myself that was focused, competitive, and ready to work.
Choose the Cue
Last week, we talked about naming an alter ego, the version of you that can meet the moment for a work project, family vacation, race, hard conversation, or anything else where you want to show up with intention.
Now, choose a physical cue that helps you access those traits. It could be:
something you wear, like a blazer, lipstick, sneakers, or a hat
something you carry, like a small object in your pocket or bag
something connected to your field of play, like a notebook, water bottle, or piece of jewelry
The cue doesn’t need to be obvious to anyone else. It just needs to mean something to you.
When you put it on, hold it, or see it, let it remind your body:
It’s game time.
Take good care,
Lisa

Love this one Lisa! I wear my Vermont 100 black shorts (that were given to me with the belt buckle for completing the race) when I am doing a race and want to feel extra confident. I also always carry a little charm (Hanuman) in my running pack. He symbolizes the strength we have inside us that we don't know we have until we need it!
